The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its decision to contest in two assembly constituencies for the upcoming by-elections in Assam, amidst ongoing tensions within the Opposition alliance and nominations from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates.

AAP Candidates Announced

AAP has officially declared Nurul Amin Choudhury as its candidate for the Samaguri assembly constituency and Ananta Gogoi for the Behali constituency. This decision follows requests from various party leaders for candidacy in the by-elections.

Campaign Support from AAP Leaders

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal is set to join the campaign efforts for these by-elections in Assam. He will be joined by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who will all participate in the election campaign.

Opposition Dynamics

The opposition’s attempts to consolidate against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have faced challenges. Recently, Congress opted to go solo in the Behali constituency, nominating BJP defector Jayanta Bora as their candidate. In contrast, the Asom Sanmilito Morcha (ASOM) has continued with its coalition, announcing Lakhikanta Kurmi as the candidate from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
