A Heartfelt Tribute to Zubeen Garg

The people of Assam are mourning the loss of Zubeen Garg, one of the state’s most loved artists. The 52-year-old singer, actor, and composer died on September 19, 2025, in Singapore. His sudden passing left fans across India heartbroken.

To honour his legacy, the Assam government has made a touching decision. From October 31, all other movie screenings will be paused. Only Zubeen’s last film, ‘Roi Roi Binale,’ will be shown in cinemas across the state.

Government Donates GST Share to Zubeen’s Foundation

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state’s entire GST share from Roi Roi Binale will be donated to the Kalaguru Artiste Foundation, which Zubeen himself founded.

He explained, “The state government will give its entire share of GST from the film to support medical help for artistes, assist flood victims, and provide scholarships for needy students.”

There is no entertainment tax on movies in Assam. However, the GST rate is 18% for tickets above ₹100 and 5% for tickets below ₹100. The state’s portion will directly go to the foundation.

This step turns every movie ticket into a contribution to Zubeen’s legacy. It’s a heartfelt gesture that reflects the deep love Assam holds for its cultural hero.

All Other Film Screenings Paused

Starting October 31, no other movies will play in Assam. This includes big titles like Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Kantara: A Legend Chapter – 1, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and Jolly LLB 3.

Instead, every theatre will exclusively screen ‘Roi Roi Binale’. The film was Zubeen’s dream project and marks his final on-screen appearance.

This rare move by the government shows how deeply the people of Assam respect Zubeen Garg. It is not just a tribute—it is a state-wide celebration of his life.

Zubeen Garg’s Family Bids a Final Goodbye

Meanwhile, Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen’s wife, performed the immersion of his ashes in the Brahmaputra River. She was joined by his sister, Palmee Borthakur, and other close family members.

The quiet ceremony became a moment of collective emotion for fans. Across social media, people shared photos, songs, and memories, keeping his voice alive in their hearts.

‘Roi Roi Binale’ — Zubeen Garg’s Final Film

Roi Roi Binale is a musical romantic drama written by Zubeen Garg and directed by Rajesh Bhuyan. It has been produced by Zeal Creations and i-Creation.

The movie stars Zubeen Garg, Mousumi Alifa, Joy Kashyap, and Achurjya Borpatra, among others. It will be released on October 31, 2025.

The film carries Zubeen’s signature themes of love, music, and culture. For fans, this release is not just entertainment—it is a final farewell to their musical legend.
