The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across India. Active monsoon systems, combined with a low-pressure area over central India, are expected to affect Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, and Delhi/NCR from September 5 to September 10, 2025. Residents and farmers should stay alert for localized flooding.

West India: Intense Showers in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa

Gujarat, particularly Saurashtra and Kutch, will receive extremely heavy rainfall between September 6–7. Meanwhile, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra will experience heavy to very heavy showers till September 6. Marathwada may get isolated heavy rainfall on September 5. Farmers in these regions should take precautions to prevent waterlogging and crop damage.

Northwest India: Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab & Haryana on Alert

Rajasthan and Uttarakhand will see continuous heavy rainfall from September 5–8. West Rajasthan may experience very heavy showers on September 6–7, while East Rajasthan will have heavy rain over the same period. Punjab and Haryana will face scattered rainfall, with relief expected after September 10. Residents in low-lying areas should prepare for possible flooding.

Central & East India: Heavy Rain in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha & Bihar

A low-pressure system over Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh is driving heavy rainfall in central and eastern India. West Madhya Pradesh will see very heavy rain on September 5, while East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha will experience isolated heavy showers. Bihar is likely to receive consistent rainfall from September 8–10, increasing flood risks in some districts.

Northeast India: Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh

The northeastern states will continue to see significant rainfall. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to get heavy showers till September 7. Arunachal Pradesh will experience increased rainfall from September 6 onward. Citizens should be cautious in flood-prone areas.

South India: Light Rain and Strong Winds

Southern states will receive relatively lighter showers, but Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh will remain active. On September 5, Kerala and Mahe will see isolated heavy rainfall. Tamil Nadu may experience heavy showers on September 8–9. Meanwhile, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema will face strong winds (30–40 kmph) along with light to moderate rain till September 8.

Delhi/NCR: Cloudy Skies and Intermittent Rain

Delhi-NCR experienced a drop in temperatures due to recent rainfall. IMD predicts:

  • Sept 5: Cloudy with moderate rain (Max: 32–34°C / Min: 22–24°C)

  • Sept 6: Light rain and thundershowers

  • Sept 7: Cloudy with isolated rain

Key Precautions and Advice

The active monsoon is affecting multiple regions simultaneously. Farmers in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar should prepare for waterlogging, while residents in Delhi, Rajasthan, and northeastern states must stay alert for heavy rainfall and potential floods. Timely weather updates from IMD will be crucial for agriculture, travel, and urban planning.
