Four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs were sworn in as ministers in the Assam Cabinet today, marking a key development in the state’s political landscape.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium in Guwahati at noon. The newly inducted ministers include:

• Prasanta Phookan (MLA from Dibrugarh),
• Kaushik Rai (MLA from Lakhipur),
• Krishnendu Paul (MLA from Patharkandi), and
• Rupesh Gowala (MLA from Doomdooma).

Resignation Preceding Cabinet Expansion

Before the announcement of these four ministerial appointments, Sanjoy Kishan resigned from the Council of Ministers in Assam, paving the way for the induction of the new ministers.

Regional Representation in the New Cabinet

• Kaushik Rai and Krishnendu Paul represent the Barak Valley,
• Prasanta Phookan and Rupesh Gowala come from the Upper Assam region.

Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Assam cabinet expansion would take place on December 7, with the four BJP MLAs being inducted into the cabinet.
